- Click the Surveys button on the left navigation tab.
- Select FC Surveys from the callout menu. Your session will open in a new browser tab.
Designer Tab
The Designer tab provides essential tools for configuring your survey.Â
The designer is divided into three sections: the Toolbox, the Design Surface, and the Property Grid.
- The Toolbox offers various question and panel types, such as radio buttons, checkboxes, and image pickers.
- The Design Surface allows users to drag-and-drop various question types and duplicate, require, or delete questions.
- The Property Grid provides settings for survey titles, logos, navigation, and more. Â
Toolbox
The toolbox contains all of your question types and panel types:
- Radio Buttons
- Rating Scale
- Checkboxes
- Dropdown
- Multi-Select Dropdown
- Yes/No (Boolean)
- File Upload
- Image Picker
- Ranking
- Single-Line Input
- Long Text
- Multiple Textboxes
- Panel—The Panel type is a container for other questions and panels. Use this type to group several questions or panels and control them all together.
- Dynamic Panel—A template panel that can contain multiple questions. Respondents can add and remove panels based on the template.
- Single-Select Matrix—Displays radio buttons in rows and columns. Respondents can select only one radio button in each row.

Multi-Select Matrix—The Multi-Select Matrix type displays rows and columns. Respondents use these editors to select a desired value in each cell. At their intersections, the matrix can display the following editors:
- Dropdown
- Checkboxes
- Radio Button Group
- Single-Line Input
- Long Text
- Yes/No (Boolean)
- Expression
- Rating Scale
- Dynamic Matrix—Similar to a Multi-Select Matrix, but respondents can add and remove matrix rows.

Expression—Compute values and show them to participants. For instance, you can aggregate scores from earlier responses, display the current date and time, or calculate an average. The computed values will be recorded in the survey results. To specify an expression, enter it into the Expression field in the General category. Your expression can reference other survey questions (for example,
{question1} + {question2})or use built-in calculation functions. Refer to the following help topic for more information: Expressions. - Image—Use the Image type to add an image or video to the survey. This type is used for presentation only and does not produce a value to be saved in the survey results.
- Signature—Respondents use a mouse or touch gestures to draw their signature within the allocated input area. Use this type to obtain the respondent's signature or any other hand-drawn input.
Design Surface
Add a question to the survey
Drag and drop the desired question type from the toolbox onto the design surface. You can also click the Add Question button in the design surface to add a Single-Line Input question. This button also displays an ellipsis icon that allows you to change the type of inserted questions.
Buttons within the question give you options to duplicate a question you've already formatted, mark the question as required, or delete.
Buttons to the right of the design surface are to Zoom In, Zoom to Actual Size, Zoom Out, Expand Pages, and Contract Pages.
A Full Screen button at the top right expands the design surface to fill your screen. Clicking the button again contracts the screen to the original dimensions.
If the Property Grid is not expanded, the Survey Settings button will open the property grid and select the General navigation. You can also click to Hide the Property Grid once it is opened.
Property Grid
There are various survey settings on the Property Grid navigation menu:
- General—Items like the Survey Title and Description are on this menu.
- Logo in the Survey Header
- Navigation—Items like survey layout, button alignment, and progress bar alignment.
- Question Settings—Question order, title and description alignment, answer length restrictions, etc.
- Page Configuration
- Survey Conditions—Custom variables and triggers for survey completion.
- Data Settings
- Validation Settings
- Thank You Page Configuration
- Quiz Mode—Create quizzes and assessments.
Design Buttons
Quotas
Set a Simple Quota in FC Surveys or an overall quota to collect just the right amount of data for your study, and define what should happen when that limit is reached.
Save Draft
Save your progress in building your survey by clicking this button.
Preview
Preview what the survey will look like as positioned in your Fuel Cycle Community.
Export
Export your survey questions to a PDF file. Survey must be saved first at least once before the PDF can be generated.
Publish
Publish your survey to your Community.
Themes Tab
The Themes tab allows you to personalize the look of your survey. You can change colors, sizes, fonts, and shadow effects to make it visually appealing. The interface is easy to use, so you can create a design that fits your style without any hassle.
Logic Tab
The Logic tab displays the rules governing the survey flow and allows you to modify those rules. Click Add New Rule to begin a new rule.
