This flow links an existing study or builds a new one from scratch, lets you assign an audience, customize incentives, and configure how the activity appears to members.
Note: This guide assumes the FC UX study has already been created in the FC UX Builder. If not, you can launch it from within this flow.
Step 1: Add Study
- Click the Create Activity button on the left-side navigation bar.
- In the Add Study section:
- Attach an existing study—Select a prebuilt study from the dropdown.
- Or, Build from scratch—Click Open in FCUX Builder to create a new study in a new browser tab. When complete, return to the Fuel Cycle Platform browser tab and attach the existing study.
- Enter a Study Alias. This name appears to community members.
- Under Activity Setup:
- Choose an Objective to categorize the research.
- Optionally, assign the activity to specific Teams for moderator access control.
Click~ Next to continue.
Step 2: Select Audience
- Choose whether to share the activity with All members or specific Groups and Members.
- Use the dropdown to search and assign groups or individual participants.
Click Save or Next to continue.
Step 3: Configure Activity Details
This step includes multiple sections. Complete each one before publishing.
Card Image & Activity Metadata
- Add an Activity Card Image to display in the community.
- Add a Featured Image (optional) for homepage carousel promotion.
- Add a Feature button Call-to-Action—This is the text that displays on the button when the activity is added to the homepage carousel. If you leave this blank, the button says “Start”, but you can customize it if you prefer.
- Fill in the Activity Card Description (required).
- (Optional) Customize Card Background and Text Color if no image is used.
Card Previews are at the bottom of the section.
Community Display Settings
- Select a Category that determines where in the community navigation you would see your activity (such as Announcements).
- (Optional) Add Topics for discoverability.
- Based on your entries above, choose where the activity should appear: Home, Topics, and/or Categories.
- Set your activity's platform Availability (Desktop, Mobile, or Both).
Landing Page
The first thing you see in this section is a block for the Landing Page corresponding to the FC UX study you added.
- Confirm the linked study is correct.
- Customize the Button Text (e.g., “Start Study”) up to 50 characters.
- Change the button or text colors by clicking the round color buttons and choosing a new color.
- Enter a Completion Message to display after the study is finished.
- Add Text Blocks or File Blocks if needed.
- Under Comment and Media Settings, choose how participants can interact:
- Require or allow comments.
- Control media upload visibility.
- Enable approvals, private responses, or voting as needed.
- Preview what the Landing Page will look like on your desktop browser or mobile browser.
Incentives
- Toggle Incentives ON to enable point-based rewards.
- Set custom points for each action (e.g., completing a study, uploading files, commenting).
- Check Set Maximum Points and define the cap per participant.
Click Save or Next to continue.
Step 4: Review & Publish
In the Review section, confirm that all settings are correct before scheduling the activity.
Set Status and Schedule

Choose a Status:
Draft—Save for later without scheduling.
Scheduled (default)—Pick a future publish date and time.
Published—Community members may participate.
Closed—Community members may no longer participate.
Select a Publish Date and Time.
(Optional) Check the Schedule Close Date to define when the activity will end. Set the Close Date and Time.
Click Save and Exit to finalize your setup.
The activity will automatically publish and close based on the scheduled times. You can edit these dates later if needed.
Your FC UX study is now live in the community. This lets you assign an audience, customize incentives, and configure how the activity appears to members.
